MyBacon, your thoughts!
We believe MyBacon is the best thing since… bacon. But the real validation? It comes from what you think.
We've handed out what feels like a zillion samples of MyBacon, and it's always a treat to hear the “WOWs!” and the “Ohhh emm gees” that result from a first-ever bite.
But in your kitchen? We’re (obviously) not there to get the download of your experience, unless you reach out to share it!
That’s what Anika S. did. A lucky winner of our recent MyBacon giveaway, Anika took our request for feedback to heart:
ANIKA’S REVIEW:
“We just tried our free sample of MyBacon! We (my partner James and I) were pleased and thrilled to see the product arrive in the mycelium-like Styrofoam. We live in Seattle where industrial-level composting is well implemented in our waste management system, making this type of product packaging even easier to dispose of.*
*Yes, we ship our product in a biodegradable cooler that's also made of mycelium! Fyi, mycelium packaging materials utilize a different technology than mycelium as food.
Background:
James joined me in pescetarianism shortly after we began dating, and as a result, we embarked on a journey exploring more sustainable foods. We first heard of you about a year ago through a YouTube video and I signed up for your mailing instantaneously. We really dug the company's environmental values and goals, and I wanted to surprise James with MyBacon as soon as the product became available in our area.
Our Experience:
I have tried bacon substitutes in the past, but I was never impressed and never bothered to buy them a second time. I wasn't sure what to expect of MyBacon. We cooked it up for breakfast this morning alongside breakfast tacos. The smell was on point and the sizzle was fun. Because I was curious about the textures and flavors derived from cooking it at different lengths, I cooked two batches; one totally crispy and one just slightly crispy.
James's review:
9/10 for flavor
6/10 for texture (If comparing it to actual bacon. Mind you, if I had cooked them all crispy, I think his texture points would have gone up)
My review:
I loved it.
9/10 for flavor
8/10 for texture (if comparing it to bacon; 10/10 for a mushroom crisp)
10/10 for ingredients - I figured MyBacon would be full of preservatives and ingredients I didn't know of, like other meat substitute products, but I was surprised to find out otherwise.
