MyForest Foods was born with a mission to feed the future. Yet when our company launched in Spring, 2020, we were lucky if we could feed our staff! The technology in place limited our growing capabilities to very small batches of mycelium—a.k.a. MyBacon’s main ingredient.
We knew we could scale that technology to produce literal tons of mycelium. We also knew the trial and error process would be intensive. Fungi are powerful, elusive organisms. Each time we expanded our production goals, we had a new set of obstacles to overcome. Training a dog is one thing. Training a mushroom is another! But with perseverance, patience, and learning, it can indeed be done.

It was November 2020 when we delivered our first shipment of MyBacon to the Honest Weight Food Co-op in Albany. And by delivered, we mean we walked it over to their store; MyForest Foods' kitchen is headquartered on the same street. Talk about local!
Honest Weight will always hold a special place in our hearts as our neighbor and very first retailer. They've been an incredible partner, helping us promote MyBacon through in-store samplings, consumer survey sessions, and rave reviews from their awesome staff members & customers. Our product often sells out in less than 24 hours.
Today, we’re thrilled to share that our inventory is UP! Honest Weight keeps MyBacon stocked right next to their traditional bacon offerings. Who, by the way, is no longer our only retailer.

Summer 2022 is off to a great start as we announce our second retail location: The Berkshire Food Co-op. Located in the popular Northeastern mountain town of Great Barrington, we’re excited to reach more foodies eager for a taste of our meatless bacon. The Co-op community has embraced MyBacon as an inclusive alternative to traditional pork bacon. Certified Plant-Based, free of the top-8 allergens, and savory enough to satisfy a carnivore, we like to think of it as “everybody’s bacon!”

A third location?! You bet’cha! Travel an hour east (and just slightly north) of the Berkshires and you’ll land in Northampton, MA, home of the Cornucopia Natural Wellness Market, a family-owned destination for local and organic foods. Their self-described vibrant community of healthy, socially responsible & environmentally conscious customers is in for a treat when they try our alternative to everyone’s favorite breakfast meat.
